District Planning Committee inaugurated
The District Planning Committee should work for the overall development of the entire district, Minister for Rural Industries, Pongalur N. Palanisamy, said here on Saturday.At the inaugural meeting of the committee, he said that the panchayats, town panchayats and Corporation should work in cohesion for the district's growth.The committee should identify natural and industrial resources in the district and suggest programmes for sharing these resources.It should also recommend various projects that could be taken up. The committee, thus, gave its suggestions on various issues.
The Government would soon hold training programmes for the members. The district received assistance under various State and Central Government schemes. The committee should also suggest how the assistance should be distributed so that it reached the actual needy areas.The committee chairman, C.R. Ramachandran, urged all the members of the committee to work together.The District Collector, Neeraj Mittal, who is also the vice-chairman of the committee, said that the aim of the committee was to have coordination between the rural and urban bodies and suggested various programmes.
