Sarojini Naidu prize for journalists

Nominations have been invited for Sarojini Naidu Prize for best reporting on women in Panchayati Raj for this year. Instituted by the Hunger Project and the Centre for Social Education and Development (CSED), the prize of Rs. 2 lakh will go to three print journalists for outstanding reporting on `Women in Panchayat Raj' in Hindi, English and other Indian languages. A prize has also been announced for one television channel for coverage of this issue. It is open to all journalists.

The Hunger Project works in 13 States in India, focussing on mobilisation and empowerment of elected representatives in panchayats.All entries have to be accompanied by the articles that have been published in a newspaper or magazine. The applications should include name, address, email, and phone number. The articles should focus on `Women in Panchayat Raj - Bringing education to every child'. It should have been published between July 15, 2006 and July 15, 2007. Those published prior to this date and entries received after July 15, 2007 will not be considered. Broadcast entries should be at least of seven minutes duration. They should be accompanied by a digital video disc (DVD).
