SICA plans interactive session
South India Cotton Association will have an interactive session with about 100 farmers, cotton growers, scientists and members of cotton trade and industry. Coimbatore In a bid to help cotton farmers to increase yield, South India Cotton Association (SICA) is organizing an interactive session here on 12May.
Around 100 cotton growers, scientists and members of cotton trade and industry would be attending the meeting, SICA Secretary K N Viswanathan said. With India becoming world’s second largest cotton producer, state-wise production should be further monitored and farmers, especially from the south, need to be encouraged, he said.
The average yield needs to be brought to the international level, so that the farmers would be benefited, Vishwanathan said. The meeting is being organized jointly by Southern India Mills’ Association, Cotton Corporation of India and Cotton Development and Research Association.
