TNAU's Flashing Idea!
Dr C Ramasamy, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has mooted the idea of giving ''flash news'' about new technologies through the TNAU website on a quarterly basis.Since many technologies and research activites do not properly reach farmers or get delayed, this would help in speedy dissemination of new technologies, Ramasamy, said while participating in the concluding session of ''Annual Research Meet on Rice,'' here last evening. For this purpose, the University website would open a new section viz., Qarterly New Technology Release, he said.
He urged the scientists to target a big jump in rice yield in the next few years to the tune of 12 tonnes/hectare in rice research. This enhanced target would be possible by way of introducing specific interventions with emerging technologies in the field of hybrid rice, biotechnology, microbiology, agronomy, biocontrol and mechanisation, Ramasamy said.
