150 children provided free edu.materials
Around 150 children were provided free educational materials for this academic year by the volunteers of Art of Living.According to a release, eligible children were selected from a colony near Marudhamalai, Sharanalayam, a home looking after prisoners’ children in NGGO Colony, and another children’s care home, ‘Savvos,’ at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar. These children were given note books and two sets of uniforms along with school bags.The idea behind the drive was to reduce the number of children dropping out of school owing to lack of funds. Fourteen children from the colony near Maruthamalai were enrolled into schools this academic year.Very few children in this completed their school education and even those who did never went to college.Free yoga and meditation programmes and value education classes were also held for their benefit.Unlike children studying in city schools, these children were never exposed to quality education.The volunteers of Art of Living plan to conduct follow-up sessions in these areas to make sure the students continue to go to school and are given classes in value education on a regular basis.
