Coimbatore became a separate zone for Amul
Media reported that Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, the manufacturer of Amul dairy products, has chalked out plans to set up around 400 more retail outlets in Tamil Nadu by the end of the fiscal year, in addition to the existing 4,000 outlets.The State is divided into Chennai zone and Coimbatore zone, of which Coimbatore zone alone has 1,600 outlets. Tamil Nadu accounts for 20% annual market growth. The company's sale for the year ended March 31, 2007 surged to 19% over the previous year, compared to all-India growth of 21%.The company reported total sales of Rs. 4,300 crores last year, of which Rs.451 crores was through sales of ice cream and allied products. Tamil Nadu's contribution for the year stood at Rs. 25 crores.
