Coimbatore chapter in ISCA
Kolkata-based Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) has given permission for opening its Coimbatore chapter, which would connect the scientific community in all the colleges and universities through its activities in the region.Dr M Aruchami, Secretary and Director, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, has been nominated as convenor of the chapter. Aruchami, being an ISCA member, had mooted the proposal and was granted permission.
The Coimbatore chapter would serve as an interactive forum that would bring academics, experts and researchers together for the faster advancement of science in a focused manner, Aruchami said in a release today.The chapter is drawing up a dynamic calendar of annual scientific events, comprising various activities like the conduct of national/international conferences, periodic research meets and guest lectures by top scientists from time to time.The chapter would be formally inaugurated in August 2007, by eminent agri-scientist Prof M S Swaminathan, in the presence of Dr T Ramasami, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, and Prof R Ramamurthi, general president, 95th session of Indian Science Congress, Aruchami said.
