Corp school updated with Computers,Projectors

Muthuveeran (second left) is in the picture.Computers, projectors and digital video disc players were provided to six schools of the Coimbatore Corporation on Monday as part of the civic body’s scheme to introduce virtual classrooms in these institutions.The Corporation announced in the 2007-08 budget that it wanted to introduce this system in some of its schools this year itself.
This was a part of the move to raise the quality of education to the one provided in private schools.Mayor R. Venkatachalam handed over the computer and other equipment to the school heads, in the presence of Corporation Commissioner P. Muthuveeran, Deputy Mayor N. Karthik, Congress Floor Leader in the Corporation Council R.S. Thirumugham, Leader of the Opposition V.N. Udayakumar and Council Education Committee Chairman R. Kalyanasundaram.A release from the Corporation said that the virtual classrooms would have internet connections.The students could learn science, mathematics and English without the assistance of teachers, the release added.
Equipment worth Rs.10 lakh were given on Monday to the following schools:
Corporation Girls’ Higher Secondary School, R.S. Puram, Corporation Boys’ Higher Secondary School, North Coimbatore, Corporation Middle School, Tatabad,Corporation Higher Secondary School, Vokkaliar Colony, Corporation Girls’Higher Secondary School, Ramakrishnapuram and Corporation Primary School at SIHS Colony.
