Diana Hotels to footprint at Coimbatore !

Hyderabad-based Diana Hotels Ltd (DHL) is planning to set up business class hotels in Coimbatore, Nagpur, Pune and Kochi, DHL Managing Director Murali Krishna Reddy said today.

Reddy, recipient of the 'CNBC-TV 18 Emerging India Award 2007' in the Travel and Tourism category, told reporters that the Group was presently running three hotels in Chennai, Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam, with an average occupancy rate of 85 per cent.

"As Kochi and Coimbatore are fast emerging as top cities, we are seriously planning to expand our hospitality business to those places," he said. The Group had already bought a piece of land in Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh for setting up a hotel, he added.

He said all the three units, put together, had registered a turnover of around Rs 75 crore during 2006-07, a 50 per cent increase in profit compared to the previous year. Reddy, who is also the Chairman of MAK Group of Companies promoting high-end villas and multiplexes, said the Group was at present implementing three projects to the tune of Rs 500 crore in Hyderabad and was looking at property development in Chennai and Bangalore.
