Mad hopes turnd to the case in police

Race Course Police on Friday registered a case against religious preacher Charles and his wife Shanti under six sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).Charles had kept the body of his brother Selvakumar in his house for the last 60 days claiming to bring him back to life through prayers.

He along with his wife and four children were said to be offering prayers to `resurrect' him. The deceased was staying with Charles and was into religious service.The wife of the deceased Anuradha along with the other brother of Selvakumar broke open the locked door of the house of Charles at Annai Indira Nagar in Pappanaickenpalayam area on Wednesday night and found the body of Selvakumar in a highly decomposed condition.


Charles claimed that Selvakumar had committed suicide.Based on Anuradha's complaint, the police had initially registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances and removed the body for post-mortem.On Friday, the police registered cases against Charles and Shanti under IPC 202, 203, 270, 290, 295-A, and 297.Anuradha has filed a complaint voicing doubts over the death of her husband.
