Shriram Prop sets up 1000 Acre SEZ !!
Shriram Properties has submitted a proposal to the Tamil Nadu Government for promoting a textile industry specific special economic zone on Coimbatore-Tirupur road. M Murali, MD, SPL said that it is proposed to develop the zone on about 1,000 acres. If the project comes through, it will be the largest textile SEZ in the State. It will have export units representing all sections of textile industry including knitwear. It is expected to be a boon for the exporters who will not able to count on incentives in another two years.
“We have identified about 600 acres. As we require large tracts of land, we want to involve the State Agencies in land acquisition. We have sought the Government’s support for that and in getting early clearance from the Centre”, he said. As such, a couple of textile SEZs are in the pipeline in the belt. ETL Infrastructures is developing a textile SEZ over 101.62 acres at Uthukuli in Erode. Coimbatore HiTech Infrastructure is also setting up a SEZ in Coimbatore on over 60.73 acres. RNB Infrastructures has secured in principle approval for a textile SEZ in Coimbatore on over 107.24 acres.
