TNAU inks MoU with Haryana company

The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and Haryana-based Alchem International Ltd have entered into a MoU for a collaborative project on 'Participatory programme for training and demonstration for yield stabilisation in 'Gloriosa superba,' (glory lily), one of the important medicinal crops cultivated in the country.

Alchem is one of India's largest manufacturers of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients from plant sources and phytochemical business for the last 60 years and is engaged in sourcing of glory lily seeds from Tamil Nadu.Glory lily is cultivated in Tamil Nadu in more than 3000 acres. Poor yield and disease infestation are the major problems faced by farmers, a TNAU press release said today.TNAU would offer its expertise for training field officers of Alchem on improved management practices to obtain stable yield for production problems in crop, besides conducting demonstration on improved technologies, it said.
