80 workers arrestd
Nearly 80 workers of different Hindu organisations were arrested today when they attempted to take out a procession, protesting against the ongoing Sethusamudram project at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.The workers belonging to Hindu Munnani, VHP, Shiv Sena and BJP, under the banner of Rameswaram Ram Sethu Protection Movement, assembled at the Sullivan Street, to protest against the works, which they claimed would affect the 'Ram's Bridge' (now known as Adams Bridge), police said.As police did not give permission to take out a procession, the workers were arrested for attempting to defy the ban and take out a procession, they said.Meanwhile, police managed to convince some youths belonging to various Hindu organisations from taking out a motorcycle rally in the city, for the same reason, they said.
