Corp will create infra for CMCH

Venkatachalam on Saturday said that the Corporation would create the required infrastructure in and around Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) as early as possible.He was speaking at a function that had been organised by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore West at the CMCH for inaugurating three consulting rooms at the Rotary’s Outpatient Waiting Hall under the ‘Our Health & Hygiene Project’.Rotary Club President Narendra M. Ranka, Secretary R. Santhanakrishnan, Project Chairman, K.R. Sarang and others took part along with V. Kumaran (Dean-incharge), A. Angusamy (Resident Medical Officer) and R. Soundaravel (Assistant Resident Medical Officer).Mr.Venkatachalam gave an assurance that a subway for the sake of safe crossing of pedestrians would be constructed shortly in front of CMCH, connecting the bus stand with the opposite side.He also gave an assurance that the required infrastructure would be provided in and around CMCH by effective utilisation of the Jawarhalal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
Talking of the growth in leaps and bounds witnessed by Coimbatore City, the Mayor said that he had already written to the Chief Minister, Health Minister and Local Administration Minister for constructing another Government Hospital for areas west of Coimbatore at Thondamuthur.Easily accessible and timely medical care could be ensured by having another hospital and that would actually reduce the pressure on the existing Medical College Hospital.Areas west of Coimbatore actually lacked health care facilities; hence a hospital at Thondamuthur would be ideal for the benefit of people living in and around Thondamuthur.He said that it would be ideal to plan it at this point of time for ensuring availability of adequate land.
