IT can be filed on Sat & Sunday too !
The Income Tax Department has made elaborate arrangements for receiving the returns of income from July 27 to July 31.According to a release from O.P.Sachan, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Coimbatore Region, special counters have been opened at all the IT offices at Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur, Udhagamandalam and Pollachi. Returns would be received even on the intervening holidays–July 28 and 29.
The department has set up help desks on the office premises to assist the tax payers in filling up and filing of returns. The help desks and special counters will function on all the days up to July 31.In addition, officers will be present to offer any clarification.A special programme for educating assesses in filling up of new return forms is also held in the IT office premises at regular intervals.The new return forms can be downloaded from the official website http://www.incometaxindia.gov.in./They can be obtained from the special counters functioning at the IT offices.
The assesses should quote correct address, PAN, Bank account number, MICR code, etc., in their returns to facilitate speedy processing. They are also advised to bring their PAN cards or PAN allotment letters to facilitate easy filling up of the returns.
