Bosch and SJCE signed MoU
German engineering major Bosch Rexorth, in association with city-based Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), will set up a state-of-the-art 'Knowledge Partner Centre' (KPC) to impart training in equipment and machinery.The two partners have signed a MoU to this effect and the centre was being set up to encourage students to undergo training in sophisticated equipment and machinery. The initiative was the first of its kind in the country, a SJCE release said here today.Bosch plans to open nine more such centres in the state in tune with its plan to make India its major research and development destination outside Germany by the year 2015, company officials said.
To begin with the faulty in SJCE would be trained in controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, machinery and robotics, according to company Head (training) Kelshekar.Bosch Rexorth unit head Rajkumar said the company had a strong base in India in manufacturing sector with a turnover of Rs 2500 crore.Academia should evolve as the replica of industry by turning into major engineering research centres. Similar centres had been set up by the company in Singapore and Korea, he said.On the recommendations of the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Bosch had decided to have the country's first such centre at SJCE in Mysore, he added.
