Human help frm Siloam Thomas Eye Hospital
The Siloam Thomas Eye Hospital, Coimbatore, is planning to tie-up with UDIS Forum, a network that assists persons with disabilities in finding employment, to offer help to people with visual impairment.Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Sarojini Thomas, Director and Chief Ophthalmologist of the hospital, said that it would benefit children and adults who needed clinical assessment and low-vision rehabilitation and surgery.The first Monday of every month would be marked as an ‘Assessment Day’ and persons with visual impairment could visit the hospital on the dayThe hospital was also planning to start a ‘Vetri Padigal’ vocational training project for adults who were in need of jobs. Candidates would be selected in batches of 10 and given boarding and lodging on the premises of the hospital for the three-week training programme.
