The farm gate price of broiler in the district seems to be recovering after a slump. According to the Broiler Coordination Committee, the price is approximately Rs. 27 per kg now. This is slightly higher than what it was a couple of days ago. The prices have been in the range of Rs. 27 since mid-July.The prices started going down when heavy rains set in Kerala in the past weeks.This year,though prices had declined the sales later picked up, says a source at the committee.Kerala is the major market for broiler produced in the district.Nearly 20 lakh to 25 lakh birds are sold to Kerala every week.The sources said that for two or three more months the prices are expected to fluctuate.
