Coimbatore police won laurels
Police personnel from the Coimbatore Range won laurels at the State Police duty meet 2007 conducted by the CB-CID headquarters, Chennai, from August 6 to 9.The team was appreciated by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Coimbatore Range, M.N. Manjunatha, and the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural District, G. Karthikeyan on their arrival at Coimbatore. The range secured second place and had bagged medals in all major events namely forensic science theory, forensic medicine theory, finger print lifting, foot print lifting, crime scene photography, police portrait and computer awareness.
A sniffer dog named “Vicky” belonging to the Coimbatore District bagged bronze medal in tracking event. The team got nine medals, including one gold, three silver and five bronze. Sub-Inspector Parimaladevi of Coimbatore district bagged gold medal in computer awareness exam. Inspector M.S.M. Valavan of Erode district won silver medals in foot print and finger print exams.Sub-Inspector Selva Meenakshi of Coimbatore won bronze medals in forensic medicine viva, foot print and finger print exams. Head constable Palanisamy of Coimbatore District got bronze medal in police portrait exam.
T. Arivarasan, Police Photographer, Erode District, won silver medal in crime scene photography exam. The coaches namely A. Saravanan, Scientific Officer, James Mohanraj DSP-finger print and Sub-Inspector A. Masudha Begam of Coimbatore District were honoured for the excellent coaching. The teams were given certificates for meritorious performance besides cash rewards.
