Cycle rally by the scouts and guides
The Southern Railway State Bharat Scouts and Guides has organised a cycle rally by the scouts and guides to commemorate the centenary celebrations of the Scout Movement.A release from the Southern Railway, Palakkad division, said that the rally by more than 100 scouts and guides members was flagged off by A.P. Mishra, Additional General Manager of Southern Railway, in Chennai on August 1. It would pass through Bangalore, Mysore, Palakkad, Madurai, Tiruchi and Pondicherry covering a distance of 1,587 km. The rally members were being given a reception at every Scout district headquarters. The rally members would create awareness on peace, environmental care, AIDS, mother and child care, cancer, oral rehydration therapy, tuberculosis and leprosy. The rally would return to Chennai on August 22.The rally would be reaching Podanur Railway School on August 11. The members would be felicitated at a function in which K.A.Manoharan, Chief Workshop Manager, Signal and Telecom Workshop, Podanur, Mohinder Kumar, Commandant of 105 Battalion, RAF, N. Prabhakaran, Chairman of Kurichi Municipality, K. Rajendran, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore South and M. Sheik Abdul Khader, Headmaster of the Railway High School would participate.The rally would be flagged off on its next leg on Sunday by the RAF Commandant.
