Lanka corner bus stand inaugurated

Rural Industries Minister Pongalur N.Palanisamy (third left) taking a look at the renovated bus stand in front of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital which was inaugurated in the city on Saturday.The bus stand at Lanka Corner renovated at a cost of Rs. 23 lakh was inaugurated by the Rural Industries Minister, Pongalur N. Palanisamy on Saturday.The erstwhile bus stand that lacked facilities remained an eyesore causing discomfort to the passengers waiting for buses. The renovation work was completed recently giving a facelift to the bus stand.

Mayor, R. Venkatachalam, Deputy Mayor, N. Karthik, Collector, Neeraj Mittal, Corporation Commissioner, P. Muthuveeran, Police Commissioner, C.K. Gandhirajan, Corporation South Zone Chairman, P. Pari and others took part in the inauguration.The bus stand has now a passenger waiting area with chairs also has a cool water dispenser.The facilities provided now also included a pay and use toilet.The police assistance booth at the bus stand is equipped with three speed dome surveillance cameras hooked to a CCTV.The police personnel on duty at the assistance booth could monitor the bus stand area besides watching the flow of traffic.This would help in keeping track of criminal elements and suspects.The booth is also equipped with VHF wireless facility besides a public address system.
