MRF-MAI Indian National karting championship is back
The MRF-MAI Indian National karting championship is back, and better than ever before. With more classes, more races and newer venues, the premier championship promises a rich feast for motor sport enthusiasts this season.The excitement begins from September 7 when Coimbatore gets to host the opening leg at the Kari Motor Speedway in Chettipalayam.The championship will witness the introduction of the Rotax Max class for seniors, juniors and mini max. Karting drivers will compete to become the first ever Indian National Rotax Max champion.
And, this will be run in Coimbatore, Nagpur and Kolhapur. However, the World Formula class continues. For the first time, the cadet class will also be held for children in the age group of 8 to 11. The karts are smaller, and designed specially to suit the little ones.The Karting Champion’s Trophy (KCT) will be held at each venue. This is the starting point for newcomers to the championship. Previous winners of the KCT will not be allowed to participate.The top three drivers from each venue would get to compete in the grand final to emerge the KCT winner for 2007.The calendar: Round 1: Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore (Sept 7-9); 2. Kochi (Oct 12-14); 3. Fast Track, Nagpur (Nov 2-4); 4. Mohite’s Racing Academy, Kolhapur (Nov 16-18; 5. Go-a-karting, Goa (Nov 23-25); 6. TBA, Mumbai (Dec 7-9) .
