The Tirupur Exporters’ Association has sought a special scheme for exporters at six per cent interest for pre and post shipment credit.Reacting to the RBI’s first quarter annual credit policy statement, the association secretary, G. Karthikeyan, said that the Reserve Bank of India was giving priority to liquidity management to keep inflation under control and hence the exporters did not expect the bank interest rates to soften in the near future. Yet, the hike in interest rates affected exporters who were already reeling under rupee appreciation. Hence, a special scheme should be provided to them, he said.
