New RTO-South office inaugurated

Palanisamy and District Collector Neeraj Mittal on Monday inaugurated the office of the Regional Transport office (Coimbatore South) at HMS Kalyana Mahal at Peelamedu on Monday.
It was functioning along with the North RTO on the same building that housed the Deputy Transport Commissioner’s office on Dr.Balasundaram Road.Since it resulted in congestion both within the office and on Dr. Balasundaram Road because of parking of vehicles on road sides. Transport Minister K.N. Nehru and Transport Commissioner C.P. Singh during a recent visit to Coimbatore had announced that the South RTO would be shifted to a new premise.Authorities have commenced the issuance of learner’s licence from the new office.Other works will be carried out from the old office itself until further notice.The remaining works on the new premises, including installation of computers, will be completed in a fortnight, Deputy Transport Commissioner T. Gunasekaran said.
