18,720 family cards pending
Collector Neeraj Mittal has announced that as many as 18,720 family cards under the Public Distribution System are lying in taluk supply offices awaiting applicants to collect them.In a statement issued here, he said that as many as 52,445 family cards were printed in Chennai for the applicants at Coimbatore. Of them, so far 33,725 cards had been distributed.The applicants for family cards were asked to approach their respective fair price shop and verify the list displayed there relating to the cards received from Chennai.They could also approach the respective taluk office and furnish the acknowledgement slip issued to them at the time of submitting the application.If their card had been received by the taluk office, they could remit Rs. 5 and collect the card.The applications received and for which cards had not been printed were being taken up with Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu which was entrusted with the task of printing, he said.
