Meet on Ramzan moon sighting
The Coimbatore District Jama-ath and Coimbatore District United Jama-ath have convened meetings of the Hilal Committee on Friday (October 12) for the sighting of Ramzan moon.In a release, Haji M.I. Mohammed Ali, General Secretary of the District Jama-ath said that the meeting of Alims of the Jama-ath-ul Ulamas, leaders of Jamaths would take place at Athar Jama-ath on Oppanakkara Street on Friday (October 12) evening for the sighting of the moon, so that that the first Shawwal moon day could be observed as Id-ul-Fitr or Ramzan.Those sighting the moon could call up the phone numbers 2390491 or 94437 77337.For information regarding the sighting of the moon and celebration of Id-ul-Fitr people could contact the following numbers as well; 98432-74001, 94437-54574, 94438-09751, 93632-44495.The President and General Secretary of District United Jama-ath, A Amir Altaf and A. Abdul Jabbar in a release said that the meeting for discussing the sighting of the moon would be convened at the conference call of the jama-ath on Perumal Kovil Street at 5 p.m. on October 12.
Representatives of 105 Jama-aths are expected to take part. The release said that there are chances for sighting the moon on Friday and Id-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Saturday.In the event of the moon not being sighted on Friday, the fast would continue for one more day on Saturday and Ramzan would be celebrated on Sunday.On the Ramzan day, special prayers would be held from 7.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and gift to the poor would be distributed.For details on the sighting of the moon, people could contact 93446-90160, 98432-17866, 94437-23917, 98422-78632, 98949-11771 or 94437-20992.
