New depatment and schools at BU
Minister for Higher Education and Mines, K. Ponmudi, will inaugurate 10 new departments and 12 schools at Bharathiar University and give away awards at a function to be held here on October 24.A university release here has said the schools to be inaugurated are: School of Life Sciences, School of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, School of Commerce and Management, School of Chemical Sciences, School of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Educational Studies, School of Physical Sciences, School of Economics, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Social Sciences, School of Tamil and Other Indian Languages and School of English and Other Foreign Languages.The new departments to be inaugurated are: Genetic Engineering, Microbial Biotechnology, Non-Conventional Energy Resources, Material Sciences, Social Work, Education, Finance and Accounting, Information Technology, Computer Applications and Computer Sciences.The awards to be given away are for the best college, colleges for their overall performance, college which has placed maximum number of students through campus interview, college that performs best student supporting service, college supporting maximum number of students given opportunity through Earn while Learn Programme, college supporting maximum number of students for their free education, special award for providing free education to maximum number of poor students, the best magazine/journal award.Further, university-level best NSS award for 2005-2006, best college award, best programme officers award and best student volunteers award would also be given away.
