Perot expand its Coimbatore centre
Buoyed by an impressive growth witnessed by its Coimbatore centre, Perot Systems is planning to expand its facilities in the cotton city. Perot, which already has its BPO operations in the city on a two-storey structure, is planning to expand its operations in the upcoming first special economic zone (SEZ) in the city exclusively for private IT/ITeS companies. The SEZ is being established by Coimbatore Hi-tech Infrastructure (CHIL), an SEZ infrastructure initiative promoted by KG Information Systems (KGISL). Confirming the development, Mr Vardhaman Jain, MD, business process solutions, Perot Systems, said: ‘‘We have taken over seven acres of land at the CHIL SEZ to construct our two lakh sq ft-plus facility that would be ready by early 2009.’’ For Perot, the Coimbatore development centre has emerged as the fastest growing centre in the first year of operations.‘‘Our growth in Coimbatore has surpassed our expectations. When we started operations in August ‘06, our original plan was to double the headcount from the then 200 in the first year of operations. We more than doubled that number to about 500 before August 2007, and plan to have around 3,000 professionals, post-expansion,’‘ he added. The centre focuses on financial accounting and knowledge intensive transaction for the company’s healthcare and life insurance customers.
