The Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu, has approved the research project “Economic Assessment of Solid Waste Management – A Case Study of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation” of K. Govindarajulu, Reader in Economics, CBM College, and sanctioned an assistance of Rs. 2.25 lakh for the same.The project is to analyse the economic viability and cost benefit aspects of transforming municipal solid waste into compost manure using vermicomposting, which will serve as a remedy for solid waste disposal.
