Training programme on disaster management

The Central Training College II of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will conduct a training programme on disaster management for 70 volunteers at its campus at Kurudampalayam for three days from Monday.A release from the CRPF said the CTC II of CRPF had been designated as a nodal agency by the Ministry of Home Affairs for imparting disaster management training.

The agency was imparting training to the National Disaster Response Force Battalions (NDRF) of CRPF in Medical First Responder, collapsed structure, search and rescue, first responder in nuclear, biological, chemical emergencies.The three-day training is the first such programme for the personnel belonging to civil police, revenue, municipality and the same would be inaugurated by Collector Neeraj Mittal, City Police Commissioner C.K. Gandhirajan and Municipal Commissioner P. Muthuveeran.The same is being organised under the Urban Earthquake Vulnerability Reduction Project in Coimbatore especially in the wake of the finding that Coimbatore falls under the Zone III of the seism city map of India.More than 169 such districts identified in 17 States of the country identified as vulnerable to seismic activities would have this programme. Urban earthquake vulnerability reduction project is the sub-component of Disaster Risk Management Programme being implemented in 38 cities.
