Lotus Eye Care Hospital will conduct from November 18 to January 15 a camp for suture-free cataract surgery.It will be held at the main hospital on Avanashi Road (near the airport), at R.S. Puram in the city and also in Salem and Tirupur.Chairman and Medical Director of the hospital Selva K. Sundaramurthy has said in a press release that cataract contributed to 46 per cent of blindness in the world.Surveys also indicated that 1.4 million children world-wide were blind.Of these, 1.9 lakh were blind because of cataract. Timely detection and treatment would help eliminate childhood cataract.
