Perot Systems expanding @ Coimbatore
Perot Systems, the information technology services provider, is betting big on Coimbatore. Texas-based Perot Systems, which started its Coimbatore facility last year, is setting up its facility in over seven acres of land at the Coimbatore Hi-Tech Infrastructure (CHIL) SEZ.The land has been purchased, the project management plan has been put in place and the architectural plan is currently being reviewed for the new facility. ``We're hopeful that Coimbatore will play a big part in our globalisation strategy,'' said Vardhman Jain, Managing Director for Insurance and Business Process Solutions - India and Manila, Perot Systems.If the company currently does BPO work in its Coimbatore facility, it plans to have the BPO, infrastructure and IT services division in the upcoming location.The existing facility in the KGISL campus in Saravanampatti has about 500 associates currently.It plans to have over 3000 associates, post-expansion. The centre focuses on financial accounting and knowledge intensive transaction for the company's healthcare and life insurance customers. The talent pool that is available in Coimbatore is one of the major advantages of the city, pointed out Vardhman Jain. "Our initial plan was to get about 200 people, but by March 2007, we had 410. We were surprised by the kind of talents that the city had thrown in that we do high-end works out of this centre,'' he said.Perot Systems, which delivers technology-based business solutions is headquarted in Plano, Texas and serves customers worldwide. It operates in Chennai, Coimbatore, Bangalore and Noida across India.At Chennai, the headquarters of the company's India-based Business Process Solutions, includes a total of 83,000 sq ft of workspace across three facilities.
