Educational assistance to the children of police personnel

Karthikeyan (right), is in the picture.As many as 85 children of police personnel working in Coimbatore district were provided with financial assistance to a tune of Rs. 4.62 lakh for pursuing higher education.The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Coimbatore range, Seema Agrawal, and the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural District, G. Karthikeyan, gave away the assistance from the Tamil Nadu Police Welfare Fund.A sum of Rs. 3,500 was given to each student for the first two years of undergraduate courses and for the third year and post-graduate programmes it was Rs. 4,500 and for professional courses Rs. 9,000.The assistance was handed over to the children at a function held at the Armed Reserve Grounds of the Rural Police at the Police Recruit School on Avanashi.Police officials said that all eligible children would be given financial assistance in a phased manner and the drive would continue.
