Look into encroachments on Dr.Nanjappa Road

The Coimbatore Consumer Cause while expressing concern on the encroachments on Dr. Nanjappa Road, one of the arterial roads in the heart of the city has urged the authorities to initiate action for removing them.In a statement, M. Govinda Rao, vice-president of CCC said that Dr. Nanjappa Road was upgraded as National Highways on August 1, 1999. The National Highways authorities at the time of taking over the road pointed to the prior existence of encroachments. The shopkeepers on encroached lands were not allowing the public to even park their vehicles on the roadside. At the road safety-cum-traffic advisory committee, the then Collector Muruganandam had advised National Highways to take action to remove the encroachments. But till date no action had been taken.Mr. Rao requested the Corporation, National Highways Department and the Collector to take steps to remove encroachments.
