PSG signs MoU with ICICI

Viswanathan, principal in-charge of the college (left), is in the picture.PSG College of Arts and Science signed a memorandum of understanding with ICICI Bank here on Thursday to mark the beginning of an industry-academia partnership.Vanaja Shankar, Head, Faculty Development Programme, Industry-Academia Partnership, ICICI Bank, Mumbai, said that the partnership would include three purposes: a 150-hour foundation banking course, a 150-hour e-learning course, and exposure to ‘live banking’.

“Economy is growing at a rate of 10 per cent. What is fuelling the growth is the service sector. Banking plays a major role in the fuelling process. It is the vision of ICICI Bank to be among the first 20 in the list of global banks. Growth at a very fast pace is our vision. To support this growth we need human resources,” Ms. Shankar said.It was the aim of the bank to train students during their course of study to enable them to be ready to start work from the day they join the bank. The training included banking, retail credit, business credit, rural finance, insurance, customer service and business etiquette, besides others. Five faculty members from the college have received training by the bank. They in turn would conduct the training in the college, Secretary of the college B. Sampathkumar said.
