Rajagopuram work going in full pace
Even as the works for the construction of a seven-tier Rajagopuram for the Koniamman Temple are going on in full pace, the authorities have proposed to perform the Kumbabishegam on January 20.While the car festival is scheduled for March 5, the pujas related to it will begin on February 19.According to a release from the authorities, the 600-year-old temple gets an annual revenue of Rs. 34 lakh.The last Kumbabishegam was performed on September 8, 1995.At present, the rajagopuram work at a cost of Rs. 1.10 crore is going on in full swing. In addition, the gopurams of the various deities will be painted at Rs. 1.4 lakh. The community dining hall of the temple is being renovated at a cost of Rs. 4.6 lakh and the front hall of the auditorium at Rs. 4 lakh.The pathways inside the temple will get flooring at Rs. 10 lakh.For performing homams, a yaga sala is being constructed at Rs. 80,000.The audio system at the auditorium and the entire electrical wiring inside the temple are being replaced at Rs. 1 lakh each.
