Coimbatore AU will add more collages

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has received applications for grant of approval, from as many as 41 engineering colleges.The engineering colleges, if they are approved in due course, will come under the purview of the Anna University, Coimbatore.According to Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Coimbatore, R. Radhakrishnan, the applications for grant of approval have been received from as many as seven districts.These are the districts of Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Erode, Karur, Krishnagiri, Namakkal and Salem.There are 18 from Coimbatore alone, while eight are from Erode, six from Salem, four from Dharmapuri, three from Namakkal, and one each from Karur and Krishnagiri.

The cut-off date for the receipt of the applications by the All India Council for Technical Education was December 31, last year.“Even if 70 per cent of the colleges get approval, the total number of colleges coming under Anna University, Coimbatore, will touch the 100 mark,” the Vice-Chancellor told If the same number of colleges had applied in other parts of the State, which are coming under the purview of other university campuses of Anna University, the total number of engineering colleges would be very high, Vice-Chancellor Radhakrishnan observed.
