The Khadi and Village Industries Commission conducted an awareness camp here on rural employment generation opportunities in these villages.According to the assistant director (in-charge) of the commission here, S. Soundaiyyan, over 1,000 products can be made by the khadi and village industries. Individuals, self help groups, registered institutions and charitable trusts that are interested in establishing these industries can avail of several benefits. They should provide employment to one person for every Rs. 1 lakh invested.The maximum project cost could be Rs. 25 lakh and the units would get a maximum of Rs. 4.5 lakh as subsidy.They would also be supported with technical and marketing know-how.
