Coimbatore: Nearly 2,000 lawyers practicing in the Sessions and Sub-Ordinate Judiciary courts abstained from court proceedings on Monday as part of the State-wide boycott call to press a charter of demands.Their demands included enhancement of the welfare fund solatium from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh and putting an end to the practice foisting “false cases” against them by the police.They demanded the filling up of vacancies of judicial officers besides age relaxation and priority for renowned lawyers from the district courts. The court proceedings were affected because of the boycott.
