East and West assembly's photo id card ready

The Coimbatore Corporation has announced that voters in the Coimbatore East and West Assembly segment could collect their photo voter identity cards from the service centres on working days before February 29.Voters in the East and West Assembly Constituencies falling under the Corporation limits who had enrolled their names in the electoral rolls in May and September 2007 could get their identity cards.From September 2007, new voter identity cards were being distributed to the voters through teachers, tax bill collectors and sanitary inspectors.

A list of people who were yet to collect their cards were displayed at the service centres. People who had changed their residence during the distribution period could check their names in the list and collect their ID cards from election wing of the Corporation. Voters failing to collect their identity cards before February 29 would run the risk of their names being removed from the electoral rolls, a release from Corporation said.For voters belonging to Mettupalayam, Thondamuthur, Singallur, Perur Assembly Constituencies, distribution of photo voters identity cards had commenced door to door. Those who had changed their residence could approach the Village Administrative Officers and those who were in the list could collect their cards within 15 days.

The verification work of the draft photo voter rolls was going on. The voters who had not been videographed so far were requested to submit their passport size colour photographs to the VAOs within a week.
