ELCOT planned to hand over Tidel Park space
The Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) plans to hand over space at the Tidel Park coming up here to Information Technology and IT Enabled Services companies by December this year.The ELCOT Managing Director, C. Umashankar, who was here recently, said that construction works would start shortly and the total built up area would be 1.7 million sq.ft. The IT area alone would be one million sq.ft. The works were progressing as per schedule.Mr. Umashankar said about 50,000 people were expected to move in and out of the IT park every day and hence it was planned to have a world-class six lane approach road to it. The park would house facilities of Wipro, TCS and HCL apart from the Tidel Park. It would also have some commercial space. The ELCOT would start construction of IT parks in Tirunelveli, Tiruchi, Madurai and Salem soon. The project in Coimbatore had encouraged several private projects, giving a boost to the IT sector here, he said.
