Trucks are banned in Avanashi road

In view of the ongoing works to widen Avanashi Road into six lane and the resultant traffic congestion, the City Police Commissioner, C.K. Gandhirajan, has said that the entry of trucks will be banned on Avanashi Road from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. from February 21.A release said that truck drivers could instead take diversions as detailed below. Trucks from Pollachi and Kerala entering the city via Ukkadam could take the Valankulam new rail overbridge and take the Tiruchi Road to reach the L&T bypass road for proceeding further.

Similarly, trucks from Pollachi and Palakkad Roads bound for Mettupalayam Road and beyond would have to take the Perur bypass road, Chetty Veedhi, Chokkampudur, Gandhipark, Thadagam Road and then enter Mettupalayam Road.Trucks from Mettupalayam Road bound for Avanashi Road would have to take Sanganur Road, Sathyamangalam Road, Saravanampatti and Kalapatti Road to reach Avanashi Road.Trucks on Sathyamangalam Road could take Vilankurichi-Kalapatti-Thottipalayam Road to reach Avanashi Road.Trucks on Avanashi Road wanting to reach Mettupalayam Road or Sathyamangalam Road would have to take Kalapatti-Vilankurichi Road.

Trucks on Avanashi Road from eastern side proceeding towards Pollachi and Kerala would have to reach the Hope College junction and then proceed via Kamarajar Road to reach Singanallur and then take Tiruchi Road to proceed towards Sungam, Valankulam new rail overbridge to reach Ukkadam. Truck traffic would be permitted on Avanashi Road only at night.
