The notice by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board requesting the units to use generator sets during peak hours was a blow to these industries. While the profits were affected for bigger units, the smaller ones were unable to continue operations. Hence the board should exempt the small scale units from this notice, he said. The Union Government should take steps immediately to control the prices of raw materials. The Government should stop exports of these materials when the domestic units faced shortage. The association planned to organise protests insisting on these demands, he said.
