Fight Between MLA's Wife And DSP

Cases were registered against a DSP and three other police personnel for allegedly threatening Pongalur DMK MLA’s wife, a panchayat union president, here on Sunday.Soundarammal, wife of MLA A S Mani, lodged a complaint with Avinashipalayam police stating that Kangeyam DSP Sivasubramaniam, Sub-Inspector Govarthanambigai and two other constables trespassed her dairy farm at Avinashipalayam on Saturday.

Tense moments prevailed in Pongalur on Sunday due to cases


She said they also beat up the workers there and when questioned she was also threatened by the policemen.Based on her complaint, Avinashipalayam police registered cases on charges of trespassing, beating and threatening to murder.On the other hand, the same Avinashipalayam police booked three persons, including the panchayat president and her son, for preventing government servants from discharging their duties.Tense moments prevailed in Pongalur on Sunday due to cases against the police and the MLA’s wife.


The police said that on Saturday, woman SI Govarthanambigai of Kangeyam in Erode district and another police were on highway patrol duty in Kangeyam.Two persons on a bike, when intercepted by them, did not stop. Hence, the police chased them and arrested one of them at the dairy farm of Pongalur MLA A S Mani when they sought refuge there.There ensued some quarrel between those at the farm and the police.
