Insurance Employees Observed Strike
Members of the Joint Action Committee of Public Sector General Insurance Employees, Coimbatore, observed a one-hour walkout strike and staged a demonstration in front of the divisional office recently. The agitators sought promotions that had not taken place for the last four years, improvement in staff welfare matters, end to arbitrary transfers and mobility policy, restoration of compassionate ground appointments and yet another chance to opt for the 1995 pension scheme. Coimbatore branch secretary K.S. Venkatasubramaniam and general secretary S.V. Shankar warned the management that the agitation would be intensified if the demands were not met.31.03.2008.
