Kongu Vellala Gounder Rally

To mark the anniversary of Kovai Chezhiya, the Kongu Vellala Gounder Peravai has decided to organise a vehicle rally from Chezhiyan Memorial in Kangeyam to Tirupur on March 14. The rally will be followed by a public meeting to highlight various demands.A release from State general secretary E.R. Easwarn said that the rally and the public meeting will be to protect agriculture and dyeing industry.

Speedy implementation of Pandiaru – Punnampuzha scheme

The public meeting will also press its demand of taking the treated effluents into the sea through pipelines. In the absence of an effective system for discharging these treated effluents, health hazards were on the rise in Tirupur despite the town earning enormous foreign exchequer. In the event of any further delay in announcing a scheme for taking the effluent water to the sea through pipelines, the Peravai would be constrained to organise a series of agitations. The other demand would be seeking total prohibition or permit toddy tapping for protecting the palm and coconut trees. The meeting would also demand removal of toddy from the liquor list and speedy implementation of Pandiaru – Punnampuzha scheme.
