New Commissior Takes Charge



Inspector-General of Police Sunil Kumar (right) takes over as Coimbatore City Police Commissioner on Tuesday from C.K. Gandhirajan. Inspector-General of Police, Sunil Kumar, an IPS officer of the 1988 batch assumed office as Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, on Tuesday. He replaces C.K. Gandhirajan, who has been transferred and posted as Inspector-General of Police, Human Rights, Chennai.

Mr. Sunil Kumar had earlier served as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Madurai Rural and at Rajapalayam

Mr. Sunil Kumar had earlier served as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Madurai Rural and at Rajapalayam then as Superintendent of Police, Prohibition and Excise, Cuddalore, Tirunelveli and Dharmapuri districts. He had also served as Commandant of the Tamil Nadu Police III Battalion at New Delhi. He had served as Salem City Police Commissioner, Joint Commissioner of Police, Chennai City, and as Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Human Rights and Social Justice.


His last assignment before his posting to Coimbatore City was Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Chennai City. Mr. Sunilkumar said efforts would be made to ensure public-friendly, effective and good policing and assured that steps would be taken to improve traffic conditions.
