Prisoner Escaped
A convict prisoner P. Manikandan (30) of Ganapathypalayam in Erode District escaped from the Coimbatore Central Prison on Tuesday evening. The DIG of Prisons, Coimbatore Range, P. Munivelu has preferred a complaint with the Race Course Police.The accused, convicted for causing an accidental death
was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment by an Erode Court in 2005 had completed three-and-a-half years of sentence including the remand period. It is learnt that the accused who was part of cleaning team formed for cleaning the prison quarters had managed to give a slip.
