Farmers Conference
The Tamizhaga Vivasayigal Sangham has convened a conference at Vellore on April 21 to discuss the situation arising out of the actions taken by the Union and State Governments to control the price rise of essential commodities.In a statement, the Sangham president, M.R. Sivasamy, said that even as the Opposition parties were waging struggles against inflation and rise in prices of essential commodities, the Union and State Governments have started initiating a number of measures to control price rise. The primary reason for the rise in prices of essential commodities was farmers giving up agriculture as it was becoming unviable, he said.
