I-Schools Soon

It’s the age of intelligent schools. Students no longer need to take down reams of notes and teachers can bid goodbye to the black board. Computers have literally revolutionised the learning process. Everonn Systems India Limited, a satellite education service provider, has recently introduced this concept of intelligent schools (I-Schools).
About seven schools in Coimbatore have already turned ‘intelligent.’

Many others already have virtual classrooms. I-Schools are those which combine virtual classrooms and an intranet-based system. While the virtual classroom involves a teacher taking class in one particular location, which is relayed to various schools at the same time through a satellite, the intranet system involves 20 to 30 classrooms connected to one common system. It also has an interactive wide board, which enables the teacher to add notes to the digital content projected on the LCD.

The notes are also converted to digital format, which the students can access. This essentially means the students do not even need to take notes in class,” says R.Kannan, Director, Everonn Systems. “We have about 40 schools across the country that are using this concept, and we expect at least 500 more schools to become members by the end of this year,” he adds. The teachers are empowered to work upon the digital content too. The company also appoints co-ordinators who help the teachers with the technical aspects of digital instruction.

‘Classontheweb,’ is another concept introduced by the company for the benefit of the student community. The portal caters to the educational needs of a student. This website offers curriculum-based material on English grammar, mathematics, physics, chemistry, social sciences, business studies, economics and accountancy for students of standards VI to XII. The website has virtual textbooks, laboratories, and even worksheets. It also provides question paper samples with solutions. Schools can register on the website or students can register individually.
